History of Palm Jebel Ali
Construction of the island began in 2002 after the grand success of Palm Jumeirah and was frozen in 2008 due to the global financial crisis.
In the summer of 2023, the Dubai government announced the long-awaited continuation of construction of a second palm island, Palm Jebel Ali, which will entail the expansion of the emirate's coastline by 100 kilometers.
The resumption comes amid an upturn in Dubai's real estate market. The new Palm will have more than 80 luxury hotels, developed beach and entertainment infrastructure, many cafes and restaurants, as well as luxury residential real estate.
